Mathura, Vrindavan and Agra

Days 1 to 2: Mathura and Vrindavan

2 nights · Easy · Twin temple towns on the Yamuna, revered as the birthplace and childhood home of Krishna.

Day 1: Mathura and Vrindavan

• Arrive at Mathura Junction and visit Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi in the morning, with your photo ID.
• Go on to Dwarkadhish Temple in the old city before it closes for the afternoon.
• See the Government Museum during the midday temple break (closed on Mondays).
• Watch the evening Yamuna aarti at Vishram Ghat at about 7 pm.
• Take an auto-rickshaw to Vrindavan for the night.

Day 2: Mathura and Vrindavan

• Start early at the ISKCON Temple (Krishna Balaram Mandir).
• Join the morning darshan at Shri Banke Bihari Temple, which opens at about 7:45 am.
• Walk to Nidhivan before it shuts at noon, then rest through the afternoon break.
• Visit Prem Mandir from about 5:30 pm and stay for the lights after dark.

Getting here from Mathura and Vrindavan: Road, about 1.5 hours.

Days 3 to 4: Agra

1 night · Easy · Mughal city on the Yamuna, home to the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and nearby Fatehpur Sikri.

Day 3: Agra

• Reach the Taj Mahal at opening time and spend the early morning there.
• Go on to Agra Fort, about 2.5 km away.
• After lunch, cross the river to the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah.
• End the day at Mehtab Bagh for the sunset view of the Taj Mahal.

Day 4: Agra

• Visit Akbar's Tomb at Sikandra in the morning.
• Drive about an hour west to Fatehpur Sikri.
• See Buland Darwaza, the Jama Masjid and the palace buildings there.
• Return to Agra and try petha and chaat before leaving.
