Karnataka's palace city at the foot of Chamundi Hill, known for Mysuru Palace and the Dasara festival.
FamousHeritageCityPilgrimage
Mysuru is a compact heritage city where the main palace, an old zoo, a hilltop temple, a Gothic church and several museums lie within a few kilometres of each other. It is about 140 km from Bengaluru, so it works as a short break and suits families, seniors and first-time visitors. It is also a base for trips onward to Coorg, Bandipur and Nagarhole.

When
What to expect
October to February
The most pleasant months, with winter highs of about 30 C and lows of about 13 C. Dasara falls in this period (11 to 21 October in 2026) and December to January is also busy, so rooms near the palace fill early.
March to June
Summer, with highs of about 34 C and lows of about 20 C. Sightseeing is hotter in the middle of the day, though May and June still see holiday crowds.
July to September
Monsoon months. Some guides count them as a good time because the heat eases, but expect rain during outdoor visits.
