A quiet valley of old wooden temples, apple orchards and villages between Shimla and Mandi.
Lesser-knownPilgrimageOrchardVillageHeritage
Karsog has several old hill temples built in stone and carved wood, set among apple orchards and paddy fields, and it sees few tourists. It suits people who want a slow trip with temple visits, village walks and short drives rather than a busy hill station.

Safety
By day
A quiet rural area with few tourists. Carry water and snacks on the Shikari Devi trail, where there are no reliable shops.
At night
Buses are few after late afternoon and the hill roads are unlit, so finish travel by evening.
Solo women
The area is quiet, so plan daytime travel and book a known hotel or homestay.
Roads
Narrow winding hill roads. Some close during the monsoon, and the Shikari Devi road is usually closed by snow in winter. Check conditions before setting out.
