Kochi is a natural harbour where Portuguese, Dutch and British rule each left buildings behind, most of them within walking distance in Fort Kochi and Mattancherry. It suits people who like history, art, seafood and slow walks, and it is the usual starting point for Munnar, Alleppey and Thekkady. It is also the only Indian city with a water metro.
